WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — Becker College Police Chief David Bousquet has been arrested for accusations that he crashed into another vehicle while drunk and attempted to flee the scene.
Bousquet was arrested Tuesday after police say he hit a car in an intersection and drove away before being found walking away from his damaged vehicle, the Telegram & Gazette reported.
Auburn Sgt. Daniel Lamoreaux wrote in a statement that Bousquet smelled strongly of alcohol and admitted to drinking.
Bousquet was charged with drunken driving, leaving the scene of a crash causing property damage, negligent driving and carrying a firearm while intoxicated.
Bousquet refused to provide a breath sample at the station and was issued a 180-day license suspension before being released on personal recognizance Wednesday after pleading not guilty in Central District Court.
Bousquet’s lawyer, James Gribouski, said in an email that he could not yet comment because he hasn’t seen the state’s evidence.
“We look forward to defending his case in court,” he wrote.
Bousquet is scheduled to appear on Feb. 23 for a pretrial hearing.
Becker College officials declined to comment Wednesday afternoon and said that the college does not comment on personnel matters.
