BOSTON (AP) — Southern New England communities are recovering after heavy rain and high winds led to power outages and downed trees across the region.
Utility companies in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island report that most of the residents who lost power Saturday have had service restored as of Sunday morning.
Sunday’s forecast is clear with mostly sunny skies.
More than 25,000 customers were in the dark in Massachusetts at some point as wind gusts reached 60 mph in places Saturday.
Communities across the region also reported downed trees and power lines but no major injuries.
In Connecticut, the National Weather Service has issued flood warnings for communities along the Connecticut River, Housatonic River and others as they’re expected to crest early Sunday before falling below flood stage late Sunday.
