BOSTON (WHDH) - Local pastors and community leaders say the city is in crisis mode and are declaring a state of emergency in Boston.

They held a news conference Tuesday in Dorchester, where they addressed the issue of murders in Boston.

Local religious leaders called on elected officials to recognize the issue and said officials need to be held accountable.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said he spoke to some of the leaders on Monday and was surprised by their claims that he has not been proactive about the issue of murders in the city.

Walsh also said he does not believe the city is in a state of emergency, even though there have been four murders in recent weeks.
