Members of the community greeted students at Jeremiah Burke High School on Monday as they returned to class after a classmate was killed last week.

The special welcome was organized by Mayor Marty Walsh’s office and Boston Public Schools. The greeters said they want to be positive role models for the students.

Seventeen-year-old Raekwon Brown, who was a junior at Burke, was shot and killed outside the school last Wednesday.

Brown’s funeral will be held Thursday.
