MANCHESTER, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut state police officers have seized tens of thousands of synthetic marijuana bags with a street value of $610,000.
Police announced Saturday that information from an extensive investigation enabled troopers to secure a search-and-seizure warrant targeting a storage facility in Manchester. They found more than 30,500 packages when they raided the facility Friday evening.
Police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance says no one is in custody, but an investigation continues and arrests will follow.
Synthetic marijuana is plant material sprayed with chemicals that can mimic the high from marijuana. It's been tied to such health problems as a rapid heartbeat, kidney damage and seizures.
Federal and state laws ban some of the chemicals used for synthetic marijuana.
