HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) — Police say a man was arrested after telling a clerk at a gas station in Hamden that he wanted to “snipe” police officers.
Authorities say 24-year-old Alex Lawrence of New Haven made the comment early Friday morning, a few hours after the shooting in Dallas that killed five police officers.
He was charged with second-degree threatening, breach of peace and possession of narcotics. His bond was set at $5,000.
A phone number listed for Lawrence was out of service and it was not immediately clear whether he had an attorney.
Police say Lawrence asked for a free cigar and the clerk refused and asked him to leave. Lawrence allegedly said: “Call the police. I want to kill them and snipe them when they arrive.”
