Firefighters say battling cold temperatures was a big challenge after a fire broke out Sunday night in Worcester.

It happened on Preston Street in a triple-decker home.

Two of the three apartments were vacant, and the one person on the third floor made it out safely, no injuries reported.

Firefighters said the big challenge was the cold temperatures and keeping the water from freezing over as they tried to fight the fire.

This was one of three fires that happened in the area within 24 hours.

The home remains encased in ice, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
