Firefighters in Amherst, New Hampshire were on the scene of a large fire Monday afternoon.

Emergency crews shut down the road while attempting to fight the fire. The fire has since been knocked down.

The fire destroyed Amherst Kayak and Canoe and a hot tub store next door on Route 101A. Winds then blew embers onto a neighboring building, damaging a section of the roof. Some cars in the parking lot also sustained damaged.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. An employee at the kayak store said three people were inside at the time but everyone is OK.

Investigators say they are looking into some witness accounts, saying the fire may have started in a nearby dumpster.
