BARNSTABLE, MASS. (WHDH) - The Hyannis Fire Department was on scene of an industrial accident in Barnstable Friday afternoon.

Two people are in critical condition after a lift fell on top of them.

The incident happened at a vacant car dealership on Stevens Street.

Two men were removing fluorescent lighting from the ceiling at the time of the incident.

Two other workers from Environmental Response Services of Middleborough were hit by flying debris, and are being checked out at Cape Cod Hospital for minor injuries.

One of the men was sent to a Boston hospital by helicopter.

Federal investigators from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are on site checking the lift and conducting interviews.

The Deputy Chief of the Hyannis Fire Department said the lift will be removed, but the area must first be cleaned up.
