Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is making his way through New Hampshire Wednesday and touched on New England history at a stop in Henniker Wednesday morning.

At New England College, Cruz spoke about issues important to him, including his belief in small government and loyalty to the Constitution. Cruz talked about the Pilgrims and what he believes they mean to America today.

"New England was meant to be New England, the new land, where we could come and be free and not have government dictate our faith, not have government dictate our lives," said Cruz. "But instead be a land where free men and free women stand on their own feet and govern their own families and their own lives."

Cruz has four other events scheduled in New Hampshire Wednesday, including a stop at a country store in Hooksett. Meanwhile, fellow Republican candidate Donald Trump slammed Cruz on Twitter, accusing him of stealing the caucus in Iowa. He also accused Cruz of tricking other candidates’ supporters into voting for him.
