The Cuban capital, Havana, is getting a facelift for the visit of President Obama that begins this weekend.

Preparations for the historic visit have transformed parts of Havana, with repair work being done on Friday.

Some parts of the city haven’t seen a coat of paint or wall repairs in decades.

Workers hurried to finish painting walls in old Havana, where the president is scheduled to take a tour after arriving late on Sunday afternoon.

All over Havana, roads are being re-paved and painted, buildings cleaned and spruced up and trees planted on routes that the Obama family will travel.

At the U.S. Embassy on the city’s majestic Seaside Boulevard, flags from both countries are flying high, ready to greet the president.

Cubans from all walks of life view the presidential visit as a sign their country’s long isolation from the United States is finally over.
