Team New Zealand is the odds on favorites to win the sprint. Great Britain, led by Chris Hoy, won gold at the London Games. But that was 2012. Hoy has since retired and Team GB couldn’t get out of the first round at the World Championships. The French, led by Francois Pervis, have the best chance at giving Team NZ a run for their money.

Women’s Odds:

Germany – 15/2
Australia – 19/2

New Zealand – 125/1
Spain – 150/1

On the women’s side, Team China is way out in front in the early odds. Jinjie Gong and Tianshi Zhong were celebrating what they thought was a win at the World Championships until they were disqualified for an illegal change. (Reacting to the news, China’s coach punched a wall and broke his hand). The Russians,  Anastasia Voinova and Daria Shmeleva, ended up taking the title at Worlds. The Chinese will be out for revenge in Rio.
