A cyclist was hit by a police cruiser on New Chardon Street in Boston Tuesday morning.
New Chardon Street was blocked off through 12 p.m. as police investigated the accident. A bike lay near the curb and evidence markers were scattered in the right-hand lane of the street. To the left of the evidence markers was the police cruiser, with its right-side mirror knocked off.
“The guy flew off the bike. His helmet flew off and he rolled under the car. The cop stopped and got out the car and called the ambulance right away,” said a witness.
The victim’s friends say he works in the area. They added they have spoken with him by phone and he is expected to be okay, his injuries are not known.
The victim is in a Boston hospital recovering.
Police confirmed it is an officer-involved accident and said they continue to investigate. Officials said New Chardon Street will open again once they are done investigating.
