DURHAM, N.H. (AP) — Dartmouth College and the University of New Hampshire are getting nearly $4 million for projects to promote science, technology, engineering and math.
Dartmouth is set to receive $2.8 million from the National Science Foundation to improve its STEM undergraduate curriculum, while UNH will receive just under $1 million for a project aimed at increasing the number of low-income students earning degrees in such fields. The latter money will be used for scholarships for STEM students transferring from Great Bay Community College in Portsmouth to UNH.
The grants were announced by the state’s Democratic Congressional delegation. They said the funding will help build the state’s workforce and ensure students can thrive in the 21st century economy.
