Police on Wednesday identified the victims as Elisete Benevides, 51, and Gelcino Souza Oliveira, 50, of Cabot Street, Beverly. Benevides was the sole resident of the home on Winter Street where the victims were found.
Police say they were called to the home following a call from Benevides’ son-in-law requesting police check on her because he had received a phone call from her sister in Brazil who had been speaking with Benevides when she suddenly screamed and the call ended.
Police say they found the bodies of the man and woman on the steps of the home suffering from stab wounds.
According to police, Benevides and Oliveira had been dating, and Benevides had ended the relationship in October. There were no restraining orders or previous reports.
