A piece of a European rocket washed ashore in South Florida over the weekend.

At first, people who discovered the debris believed it was parts of a plane.

However, a police officer who responded to the scene Googled the emblem on the debris and discovered it belonged to a rocket in the European Galileo satellite program.

Under the program, Europe is trying to make a separate GPS navigation satellite network.

There is no word on how long the debris was in the water, however, barnacles attached to it could mean it was in the sea a long time.
