LAWRENCE, MASS. (WHDH) - A decapitated body was found near the Merrimack River in Lawrence Thursday afternoon.
Police said a woman walking her dog found the body near McCabe Court at around 2:45 p.m. The Essex County District Attorney said the body had been decapitated and police found the head nearby.
The DA said the body belongs to a man and that foul play is suspected. The medical examiner will perform an autopsy to identify the body and determine a cause of death.
Police believe this is an isolated case and that the public is not in danger.
