A Cape Cod police officer is facing alarming allegations after prosecutors said he attacked his wife.
Kevin Conboy, 33, is now off the job after he allegedly assaulted his wife of seven years.
Conboy appeared in court in Yarmouth on Thursday.
Conboy’s wife appeared in court and got a restraining order, keeping him from the home where they live with their two young kids.
Yarmouth Police, including the chief, went to the Dennis Police station to arrest Conboy after he reported to work the night shift.
A three-page Yarmouth Police report said Conboy has been upset that his wife only works part time and was concerned about their finances.
She told officers Conboy was angry she had bought a "Star Wars" video game for their son and then rented a movie.
According to the report, during an argument Conboy was "red face and grimacing," made a fist as if he was going to punch her, started to walk away but then
turned, "hitting her in the throat" with an open hand.
She did not require medical attention.
Conboy’s attorney refused to comment and the suspended officer slipped out a side door, leaving with his father.
