BOSTON (WHDH) - BOSTON (WHDH) – Police say a dangerous distraction may have caused the crash that sent a car crashing into a grandfather and his young grandson.

The crash happened on Commonwealth Ave Tuesday night, according to Boston police.

The incident occurred near Boston University.

Police said the driver of an SUV ran into the back of an Uber car that had pulled over, and then crashed through yellow barriers on the sidewalk.

Investigators believe the driver was paying attention to her phone while she was driving. Sources tell 7News she was texting behind the wheel.

The victims, a 78-year-old grandfather and his 10-year-old grandson, were rushed to the hospital. They are expected to be OK.

The driver was cited, and is facing several serious charges.
