The 17-year-old killed outside of his high school in Dorchester was laid to rest Thursday after his funeral.
Raekwon Brown’s funeral was held at the Charles Street African Methodist Episcopal Church at 11 a.m. Hundreds of people attended the service and his classmates released white balloons outside the church after the funeral as a tribute.
Family members said Brown had good grades, a near perfect attendance record, and planned to pursue a career in music.
“He was a very good kid, it’s unfortunate that this tragedy had to happen,” said Brown’s cousin Darryl Lowe.
Brown was buried in Roslindale after the funeral.
Brown was shot and killed outside of Jeremiah Burke High School last week. No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting. Family members expressed disappointment and concern that a suspect has not been arrested.
