It’s one thing to live through the most historic (recorded) snow blitz in Boston but it’s another thing when bitter air is also a major player. Yet another morning with most cities & towns below zero. For Boston, the official temp is measure out at Logan and dipped to +2°. I’ve never been a fan of this as it doesn’t capture extreme events very well—-like 100° in the summer months….I can all but guarantee neighborhoods in JP, Hyde Park and even Back Bay saw their temps below zero this morning. I digress…it is what it is.

Despite the measurements from Logan, Boston is on pace to have its coldest MONTH since 1934. Last time we saw a month this cold the price of a gallon of milk was 45 cents (gallon of gas was a dime). In fact, this month will end up as the second coldest month ever recorded (since 1872) in the city of Boston. Unreal.

Temps tomorrow won’t be nearly as cold but still below our normal high of 40. A very weak storm will pass southeast of New England tonight and will dislodge the arctic air. Unfortunately, this dislodging will result in a brief period of light snow. Plan on light snow arriving by midnight tonight and done by 6am Wednesday morning. Most towns (metro Boston) get a quick 2″ of snow with a little more out on Cape Cod (3-4″). Sun is out by mod morning & will melt some of that snow with temps reaching the low to mid 30s. More sun & cold for the end of the week.
