DOUGLAS, Mass. (WHDH) — A baby boy in Douglas was doing well after a special delivery.

A paramedic delivered the boy, right at the fire station.

The new parents were on their way to the hospital but realized they couldn't make it. So they stopped at the next best place.

The paramedic helped the mother into the ambulance and that's when the baby arrived.

"The husband was very nervous. The wife was very calm, calmer than I’ve ever seen before,” said firefighter Jim Kaufman who delivered the baby.

"You never know what's going to come through the door. That pretty much sums it up,” said Officer Aaron McLaughlin of the Douglas Police Dept.

The new family was taken to the hospital right after the birth.

Mom and baby are both doing just fine.
