Well how about that?! It was downright summer-like today with temps into the 80s in many locations and afternoon showers/thunderstorms popping up. Today was the warmest it has been since the last day of September. Think about that for a second… Today was the warmest it’s been in almost SIX-WHOLE-MONTHS! It certainly feels like spring has finally sprung, and has maybe even flung us straight into summer! But wait. Don’t get too used to it. Changes are on the horizon.
The showers and thunderstorms I’m tracking this evening are coming along a cool-front that will pass through overnight tonight. While most of the storm-cells are losing their "steam" as they travel east, we’re not out of the woods for wet weather. Scattered showers and maybe an isolated rumble of thunder will remain in the forecast through the overnight hours. The weekend still looks mainly dry, but there could be some lingering showers into Saturday morning. Lows tonight are very mild; in the low to mid 50s for most. Areas of fog may be locally dense. All said and done, we’re only in for about 0.2-0.5" of rain, with locally higher amounts.
I did mention that the showers and storms are coming along a cool front. So, you might be able to predict (or forecast) what’s coming! Cooler temperatures are in store for the weekend, as well as into next week. Once we clear out the showers and cloud cover by Saturday afternoon, it really is a decent spring day on tap. Highs will be in the low to mid 60s. Sunday is sunny appropriately, but also even cooler. Highs on Sunday will be in the mid to upper 50s, and coolest along the coast.
We really do need those "spring showers" to bring about the famous "May flowers." Looks like a very chilly start to the work week, with highs on Tuesday struggling to get past 50°, and more beneficial rain on the way.
