NORFOLK, MASS. (WHDH) - About 50 SWAT team members took a trip to a coffeehouse in Norfolk Tuesday morning to support the business which has been greatly affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

The METRO SWAT team, comprised of area police departments, bought food and drinks as well as gave donations to Cilla’s Coffeehouse on Liberty Lane.

Owner Mary Ellen Blue says the outpouring of support left her in disbelief.

“It was our typical Tuesday morning, which is usually very quiet, so we were just blown away,” she recalled. “We didn’t know it was happening.”

The family-owned and operated coffee shop has taken a huge financial hit during the pandemic.

“I’m right by the commuter train and I picked this spot on purpose ’cause I knew I’d get a lot of people jumping on the train, so now with people working at home that kind of has affected my business.”

Earlier this month, the coffeehouse submitted a video to the Barstool Fund asking for help.

The media company is giving back to small businesses impacted by COVID-19 and Blue is hoping she gets a call.

“That would be a gamechanger for me because as I said I’ve lost probably 60% of my business, so that would really carry me through,” she explained.

The coffee shop has not heard from Barstool Sports at this time.
