HAMPTON, N.H. (WHDH) — Police in Hampton say 20-year-old driver, Darriean Hess, who was responsible for a deadly car crash over the weekend does not have a driver’s license. The crash left two people dead and two others seriously injured.
Elise Bouchard, 53, of Danvers, Mass. and Pamela Wells, 60, of South Hamilton, N.H. were killed, Margo Heigh and another woman were treated for their injuries.
“Very sad. I lost two wonderful, wonderful friends. Great women,” said Heigh.
Police say less than eight hours before the deadly crash the young driver was pulled over for speeding. Police say Hess later told the officers she didn't have a driver’s license.
Police say she was back on the road later Saturday morning when she crossed the center line, and slammed into four bikers who were taking part in a two day ride from Massachusetts to Maine.
“They saw the car coming right at me, and then that was it. I saw her hitting me,” Heigh said.
Police are investigating whether the Hess was possibly texting when she crossed the center lane and hit the bikers.
Police have not arrested driver or charged her with the deadly accident. However, the accident is being treated as a criminal investigation.
