It’s a lot easier to deal with the cold when the Pats pull off a playoff win like they did last night!  For all you fans that were lucky enough to score tickets to the game, it’s great that the freezer weather you sat, jumped and cheered in was all worth it!  It certainly was cold last night as temperatures fell from the teens to the single digits for most.  In fact, Orange hit -8 this morning and many towns west of Boston were around 5 degrees.

We “warm” to near 30 this afternoon as southwesterly breeze tries to bring in somewhat milder air.  As clouds increase and thicken tonight, temps don’t move much, in fact, they’ll hang in the 20s to near 30 degrees.

By tomorrow morning, we’ll track some light snow/freezing drizzle that starts to break out north and west of Boston.  That will allow for some slippery spots with the highest chance to see that for the morning commute outside I-95.

As precipitation increases in coverage are through the rest of the morning, into the afternoon, patchy light snow outside 495 mixes with freezing drizzle/sleet, while any brief snow/mix near Boston or over Southeast Mass will change to rain drops.  It’s not a big storm by any stretch, but a coating -2″ of snow is likely northwest of Boston (locally higher, 2-4″, northern Worcester Hills),  a coating in the city, and mainly plain ole rain showers for southeast Mass.  Again, it’s not a lot of snow, but pockets of freezing drizzle or light freezing rain may add to slippery spots tomorrow, especially in the morning.

Periodic showers/mix precip tapers off at night and ends as some light snow over the Cape by Tuesday morning.  Across the Cape, your chance of a coating to an inch of snow is Tuesday morning and not tomorrow.  On Tuesday, the rest of us are dry as northerly winds take over and push another surge of cold air into Southern New England.

The rest of the week looks quiet as the Thursday-Friday storm looks too far south to impact us at this point.

How about for the AFC Championship?  Next Sunday looks seasonable and dry… 30s to near 40, so it does look milder than last night.

Have a great Sunday!
