Class Act:

East Boston Central Catholic School

Nominated by:

Robert Casaletto

Nomination Story:

About two weeks before the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Boston took place I decided to ask the 6-8 grade students at East Boston Central Catholic School if they would be interested in taking part in the walk.  Our 4th grade teacher battled breast cancer while the 7th graders were in her classroom and our development director is currently battling breast cancer.

The students said yes so I registered our school online and set a goal of $500.  In a short time we raised over $3000 and 39 students plus over 20 parents and staff took part in the walk.  We started the Sunday morning off with a Mass at Sacred Heart Church in honor of the people were walking for, took the train into Boston, and walked the 5+ miles in the rain.

I could not have been more proud of a group of students than I was that day.  They are truly a class act!
