SAUGUS, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts man has died of an apparent drowning while swimming in a state park.

The Essex District Attorney’s Office says a 35-year-old East Boston man was found submerged in the water at Breakheart Reservation in Saugus.

The man was pulled from the water and taken to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police have not released the man’s name.

Authorities say he was swimming with his 8-year-old son and 9-year-old nephew, who were unharmed.

Authorities say they were swimming in a prohibited area.

The incident remains under investigation. No foul play is suspected.

Breakheart Reservation is located about 10 miles north of downtown Boston.
