WALPOLE, Mass. (WHDH) — Just one day after crashing into a gas pump in Walpole the 83-year-old driver is talking about what happened.
“I've seen all this happen on TV with different people from Florida and old people like me going through windows and doors and saying ‘oh I hit the gas instead of the brakes’ and that’s what happened to me,” 83-year-old Edward Grace said.
On his way into the full-service gas station Grace ran over gas pump attendant Ronald Valle before hitting the pump.
“I opened the car door to go see him and I noticed flames behind me so I thought I’d better get out of here,” he said.
The attendant crawled away from the flames and lay motionless until an ambulance arrived.
Grace said he was so shook up after the crash he’s not sure if he’ll ever drive again.
“Seeing the registry revoked my license whether it’s permanent or temporary I don't know if I want to drive again,” he said.
Valle is recovering at home. He didn’t have any broken bones, just a few bumps and bruises.
"I don't believe I'm still right here seeing that video," said Valle.
