FALL RIVER, MASS. (WHDH) - An elderly man said people attacked him at a hotel in Fall River over the weekend.

Police said the guests had been returning to the hotel from a wedding. Al Marceau, 79, said the attack happened after he asked them to keep the noise down.

“I went out and asked them to please be quiet, you know, ‘We’re trying to get some sleep,’ and they said ‘What are you going to do about it’,” said Al Marceau. “One thing led to another, and before you know it we are in an argument and a fight. There’s fists flying all over the place and then after that happened they threw me to the ground and then they started kicking me.”

Marceau was taken to the hospital with cuts, bruises and a black eye.

“How could you do this to your father or grandfather? How could you do this to a man like this?” said his wife, Eleanor Marceau.

Investigators said three of the attackers are expected to be charged with felony assault and battery. Al Marceau will be called to court as well; a witness told police he swung first. He will be charged with misdemeanor assault.

7News reached out to the hotel corporation. They said they are looking into the incident.
