NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) — A man in his 80s died and two firefighters were hurt in a blaze at a two-family home in Massachusetts, authorities said.
The fire in the New Bedford home was reported at about 5 p.m. Saturday, the city fire department said in a statement.
Crews on a search and rescue operation found the victim trapped on the second floor.
Paramedics transported the man to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he later died, the department said. His name was not released.
Two firefighters were treated at the scene, one for elevated blood pressure, and the other for smoke inhalation.
The fire is under investigation but the fire department said it’s possible it started on the second floor at the kitchen.
