KINGSTON, NH (WHDH) — An elderly man was killed in a fatal car crash in Kingston, New Hampshire Sunday morning.

According to New Hampshire state police, troopers responded to a report of a serious car crash on Exeter Road shortly before 10:00 a.m.

Preliminary investigation showed the driver, 90-year-old Paul Francis of Exeter, was driving west on Exeter Road when his car went off the left side of the roadway. His car struck several trees, rolled over, and then caught fire.

Witnesses were able to remove Francis from the car before it was consumed by the flames.

Alcohol and speed did not appear to be factors in the crash, but the incident remains under investigation.

Police said Francis was not wearing a seatbelt.

Francis was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Exeter Road was closed at the intersection of Willow Road for approximately 1 ½ hours as troopers conducted their investigation.
