HOPKINTON, MASS. (WHDH) - Police are investigating after a mother and her children were hit by a car Monday morning in Hopkinton.
The crash happened on Hayden Rowe St. by Chestnut and Grove Streets just after 10 a.m.
One of the callers reporting the crash was a mother who reported her children had been struck by a car while she was pushing a stroller across the street. She also reported her son was bleeding from his head.
When police arrived on scene, they were conscious and alert.
According to police, preliminary investigation shows a 61-year-old Hopedale woman had stopped to allow the mother and three children to cross in a crosswalk.
Police believe that car was then hit from behind by a car driven by a 32-year-old Milford man. The first car was propelled off the road by the crash.
Police said the Milford man then continued on and hit the stroller, according to witness statements.
The Hopkinton mother and her children were transported to UMass Medical Center in Worcester. A 4-year-old boy, Chase, suffered scrapes along his body.
The family is expected to be okay.
The driver of the car involved was also transported to a local hospital.
Police are now investigating.
