STONEHAM, MASS. (WHDH) - A fire that began in an outdoor fire pit spread to a house on North Street in Stoneham, causing serious damage.
Firefighters said the fire in the fire pit got out of control, spreading to a golf cart and two other cars in the back of the house. Firefighters said high winds helped the flames spread quickly. Neighbors reported hearing several loud popping noises.
The fire hit the back of the house, causing damage from the basement to the attic. At least one man inside was taken away by ambulance. Two firefighters were treated for injuries but are expected to be OK.
Several people showed up to the house to pick up their pets, as a doggie daycare is run on the property. All the pets were safely removed.
