Spring weather in the winter, winter weather in the spring. That’s how we roll around here, and this wacky weather week features just about anything you can think of.

Let’s start with the good news, shall we?  Today, the luck of the Irish is on our side as highs near 60 degrees after locally dense fog this morning yields to a mix of sun and clouds.  Despite getting some sun and mild air in here this afternoon, all is not quiet.  There is plenty of cold air aloft and the difference from warm surface temps and very chilly air upstairs creates instability showers/thunder this afternoon.  A few of these thundershowers could contain gusty winds and small hail, something to keep an eye on later today.  The best chance for this action is after 2pm.  Showers/thunder is scattered about, so not all towns will see it.

Tomorrow, we’ll see another round of gusty scattered showers/squally weather fire up in the afternoon as a cold front triggers off the instability.  Tomorrow is a colder day overall with highs back near 50, dropping through the 40s in the mid to late afternoon.  That cold air continues to pour in this weekend, setting the stage for the potential snow by Sunday evening.  FWIW, Spring officially arrives at 12:30am Sunday as temps head for the teens and 20s early Sunday morning.

As a storm works out of the Gulf of Mexico and up the east coast, rain and snow spread up the Eastern Seaboard Sunday afternoon and likely move into New England by late Sunday/Sunday evening.  The exact track will dictate the rain/snow line around here, how much snow we get and the coastal/wind impacts.  At this point, it looks more likely than not that we’ll get affected from this storm with the bulk of it ending by midday Monday. As they say in the biz… stay tuned!
