A former Massachusetts fire chief was arrested and charged with arson in Maine.
Police said Ricky Plummer, 59, started a fire that burned through nearly 40 acres of woods in southern Maine. The fire took more than 100 firefighters to put it out and came dangerously close to a condo complex.
Plummer served as chief of the Marlboro and Yarmouth fire departments. He is currently the fire chief in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.
Plummer’s bail has been set at $10,000. He is no longer with the fire department and the town has put him on administrative leave.
A motive is under investigation.
