BOSTON (AP) — A former member of the Boston-based Devon Street Kings chapter of the Latin Kings gang has been sentenced to two years in prison and three years of probation on racketeering charges, federal prosecutors said.

Dante Lara, 29, was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty in November to conspiracy to conduct enterprise affairs through a pattern of racketeering activity, more commonly referred to as RICO conspiracy, according to the U.S. attorney’s office in Boston.

The Devon Street Kings, with about a dozen members, reported to the Massachusetts state leadership of the Latin Kings, providing information, structure, funds and other resources to further the gang’s goals.

Lara admitted to participating in the gang’s drug distribution activities, prosecutors said.

A federal grand jury in December 2019 returned an indictment alleging racketeering conspiracy, drug conspiracy and firearms charges against 62 leaders, members and associates of the Latin Kings. Lara is the 14th defendant to be sentenced in the case.
