BANGOR, Maine (AP) — A former Maine man says he deserved the maximum penalty for killing a man in Millinocket. A judge obliged.

Tony Locklear was sentenced to life in prison for murder on Wednesday; his daughter, Alexis Locklear, was sentenced to time served for robbery.

They were accused, along with Alexis Locklear’s boyfriend, of shooting Wayne Lapierre and his wife at their home in Millinocket in December 2017. Diem Lapierre somehow managed to call 911 despite being shot twice in the head. Her husband later died.

On Wednesday, Tony Locklear said he deserved life in prison and said he’d committed murders in other states. He pleaded guilty to murder while his daughter reached a plea agreement in which a felony murder charge was dropped. Alexis Locklear’s boyfriend, Christopher Murray, is awaiting sentencing.
