The FBI is digging behind a Providence building, but have not confirmed what it is they are searching for.
According to reports, the search is connected to a mob investigation.
Kristen Setera, a spokeswoman in the agency’s Boston office, confirmed on Tuesday that investigators were working in the area of Branch Avenue and Woodward Road. She would not say what investigators are looking for, but did say there was no threat to public safety.
The digging is going on behind a mill building that was raided by federal investigators for an illegal pot growing operation. Agents recovered about 1,400 pot plants, cash and a gun during the August raid.
There was no indication that the cases are related.
