In a statement overnight the head of the FBI says forcing Apple to help unlock the iPhone of one of the San Bernardino shooters is no big deal.

He says important decisions involving safety from terrorists should not be left in the hands of "corporations that sell stuff for a living."

Last week, Apple refused a federal order to help investigators gain access to encrypted data on Syed Farook’s iPhone.

In a  statement overnight, FBI director James Comey says, in part:

"We don’t want to break anyone’s encryption or set a master key loose on the land…"

 He adds:

"We simply want the chance, with a search warrant, to try to guess the terrorist’s passcode without the phone essentially self-destructing and with it taking a decade to guess correctly."

Apple CEO Tim Cook released a new statement saying the Government should withdraw it’s demand, and dismiss the idea that the company is acting only in the best interest of the company.
