PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) — A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit by a student who sued Pawtucket public school officials, alleging they knew about a pattern of sexual harassment and molestations at the school where she was raped.

The judge’s order, issued this week, says her complaints don’t allege plausible facts to support any cause of action against the defendants.

The girl was raped in 2016 by an 18-year-old student at the Pawtucket Learning Academy. Ivander DeBurgo pleaded no contest to first-degree child molestation and is serving 10 years in prison.

The girl sued Superintendent Patti DiCenso, the academy’s principal, and others.

DiCenso told The Valley Breeze that while the school department isn’t responsible for the criminal conduct, it’s committed to helping the student finish her education.

The girl’s lawyer couldn’t immediately be reached.
