The calendar says September and some peeps are calling for crisp, cool days.Yikes, the pattern we are in now and for a few more days says not so fast as summertime heat & humidity will linger just a bit longer. Today, both the heat & humidity work to make it feel like August–not September as many cities & towns flirt with 90 by afternoon.

I’ll say this, 90 in September is not the same as 90 in July. Huh? When we talk temps–the temps you see on a weather map–those temps are measured from inside a ventilated box so in that case, 90 is 90. However…..when you are outside on the golf course in July that temp is likely 100–perhaps even 105 in the direct sunlight. In September, that direct sunlight (on the same golf course) is not as intense so that temp is likely closer to 90 (similar to the measure temp in the ventilated box). Either way, plan on a hot & humid day today.

Tomorrow is another humid day but not quite as hot with temps in the mid 80s. Unlike today’s heat, tomorrow’s heat & humidity will pop a few isolated afternoon t-storms. The reason is a cool front drops in from northern New England and this front will usher in a preview of early fall on Friday. Temps on Friday will be in the low 70s (upper 60s at the coast!) with crisp, dry air. It’s short-lived tho as we see temps head right back through the 80s during the upcoming holiday weekend. Storm-free too!
