Fenway Park is setting the stage for winter sports with a big air competition this week.
The historic ballpark will host the big air competition on Thursday and Friday. Skiers and snowboarders will be showing off their skills on a 140-foot ramp that towers over the Green Monster, which stands 37 feet tall.
"It’s definitely really cool to be snowboarding in a baseball stadium," said Tyler Nicholson. "Not your average contest, that’s for sure."
This is the first United States Ski and Snowboard Association-sanctioned event on the east coast since one was held in Killington, Vermont back in 1998. The USSA is hoping to attract fans and new fans with events in cities like Boston.
