SUDBURY, MASS. (WHDH) - The Sudbury Fire Department battled flames and the cold weather at a house fire in Sudbury on Thursday afternoon.
Firefighters said a UPS driver out delivering packages saw flames shooting through the roof on Brimstone Lane and called 911. The woman inside told the fire chief she smelled smoke and also called 911.
Firefighters said the fire began in the attic, which started to collapse, forcing firefighters to remain outside. The bitter cold and high winds made the fire difficult to get under control. The house was also half a mile up a steep driveway, with the only fire hydrant at the bottom.
The woman and her pets were evacuated from the single-family home and no injuries were reported.
