A woman and her dog are okay after they got stuck in a marsh in Natick.

Officials say the woman was walking with her dog in the Hunnewell Town Forest when they both got stuck. An official from the Natick fire department says that the dog walked out into the marsh and wouldn’t come back, then got stuck.

The woman, who was not identified, took her shoes off and headed into the marsh to rescue the dog, but became stuck herself.

Fortunately, some hikers who were walking by spotted the woman, who was yelling for help. The hikers dialed 9-1-1.

Rescue crews say the woman was waist deep in the mud.

Wearing a survival suit, firefighter Rob Stevenson went in to get the woman and her dog to dry land, where both were safe and sound.

"She said she was fine, she wasn’t in pain or anything," he said."

It is estimated the woman and dog were stuck in the marsh for approximately 25 minutes.
