MANCHESTER, N.H. (WHDH) - Several animals were confiscated from a Manchester, New Hampshire apartment Friday after firefighters said they found them living in filth.

Ten dogs and six cats were taken out of the apartment on Wilson Street. Firefighters said they were initially called because of a chemical odor complaint. A resident of the apartment was found by firefighters, sick from a chemical used to repair holes in the floor.

Firefighters said animal urine and feces were found all over the floor, furniture and even on the walls.

The unsanitary conditions prompted a call to the city’s Health Department, who issued an order to clean up the apartment.

No charges have been filed.
