LOWELL, MASS. (WHDH) - A fire ripped through an apartment building in Lowell early Saturday morning.

The Lowell Fire Department had to evacuate the entire building on Cross Street.

The apartment building was determined to be a complete loss, and the flames caused the roof to collapse.

Firefighters spotted the flames from a few streets away.

No one was injured as a result of the fire.

Fire officials said the heat made it difficult to fight the flames.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
