CAMBRIDGE, MASS. (WHDH) - The first firefighter on the scene of the devastation fire in Cambridge is now speaking out for the first time.

Heartbroken families have also spoken out. A tearful Joe Buswell wrestled to keep his emotions in check three days after flames leveled a Cambridge neighborhood. His home on Berkshire was reduced to a pile of rubble.

Buswell said with no serious injuries, what is most upsetting is that his wife had been running a daycare center out of their house for years.

“My wife had been doing it for 30 years. And so it’s like family. We miss them,” said Buswell. “So we go from there. And everytime we talk about it, that’s when I get really emotional.”

Deputy Chief Michael Morrissey was back on the scene of the fire on Tuesday, as investigators work to pinpoint the cause of the flames. Morrisey was the first firefighter to arrive at the fire.

While investigators have ruled out arson, they’re still trying to determine what sparked the blaze.
