A child was rescued from a balcony on Wednesday when an apartment building went up in flames.

The 3-year-old boy was trapped on the fourth floor of a building on Eleanor Street when flames broke out at around 10 a.m.

Firefighters rescued the child and he is now doing OK.

There are 24 units in the apartment building and the fire began on the third floor. Between 60 and 100 people live inside and they have all been accounted for.

Firefighters said the fast-moving flames started on the third floor where work was being done.

Two firefighters suffered shoulder and back injuries and were transported to Mass General Hospital for treatment. The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
