Grantville, Georgia (NBC) — The dramatic rescue of a handicapped man from his burning home in Georgia on Thursday was caught on camera.

Body camera video shows Coweta County firefighters and sheriff’s deputies rushing into 70-year-old Dennis Renshaw’s home and dragging the wheelchair bound man to safety.

They say the home was about 40 percent consumed when they rescued him, and if they had arrived any later, the outcome could have been much worse.

“This house was at the point where we had to get in and get him out right then and there,” said Chief Craig Sherrer.

Sherrer said the smoke was 12 to 14 inches from the floor, just enough room for a human body to lay flat and get a small amount of oxygen.

Renshaw suffered burns to both arms but is expected to be okay.
